REMINDER: Year 10/11 English and Maths Information

For parents of Year 10 and 11 students, there are three pre-recorded audio presentations available on the college website, which contain information about GCSE English Literature for Year 10, and GCSE English Language and GCSE Maths for Year 11. These can be accessed at any time here.

NEW: Connect Cards

We now have Connect cards which are available for students at the Wellbeing Hub - these were designed by young people for 10-16 year olds in Cornwall and students can use them to find websites about wellbeing, ways to find support, information and activities.

NEW: Vaccinations for 16-17 year olds

For 16-17 year olds, however, The Department of Health and Social Care announced on Friday 24th September that all 16 and 17 year olds can now book their first COVID-19 vaccination appointment online.

Young people aged 16 and 17 can:

If students cannot book appointments online, they can call 119 free of charge. They can speak to a translator if they need to. Further information can be found on the NHS website.

With regards to vaccinations for 12-15 year olds, we continue to await further information and guidance about how these will be administered.

NEW: Mission to mars – Software Cornwall

Software Cornwall, with the help of their members, are hosting and supporting their annual work experience project week from 25th – 29th October 2021.

This work experience week will see up to 16 students work for a week as a software engineering team on a development project alongside industry professionals. The week is organised so the students can gain real experience in software development and delivery in a working environment.

NEW: Years 7 and 8 - Plymouth Marjon Scholars Programme

This is a FREE opportunity to participate in a new Marjon Scholars Programme during the October half-term. This programme, delivered across four days, is designed to support attainment-raising in English while also introducing participants to higher education via fun and interactive activities. The project will also introduce young people to different career sectors and some guidance when choosing GCSE options. These activities will be delivered by the Marjon Outreach team, academic colleagues and Student Ambassadors. The project will take place at Plymouth Marjon University, from 9:30am each day until approximately 3:00pm. Complimentary breakfast and lunch are provided for all students participating.

REMINDER: Aspirations Years 7 to 11

For Years 7 and 8, students and parents can request to join the William Hamley Academy 2021/22 and for Years 9, 10 and 11 students and parents can request to join the Emerging William Clift Academy 2021/22. I will inform you of masterclasses, events, local opportunities and competitions, career information and lots more.

REMINDER: Free Period Products

Bodmin College is still part of the fantastic Free Period Products scheme funded by the government and provided through PHS. We are in a fortunate position to be able to offer all of our students free products, not just for emergencies, but for their entire menstrual cycles.

Products can be collected from Reception, First Aid, or any member of staff displaying the Period Products poster on their classroom or office door.
