COVID-19 updates

UPDATE: Vaccinations for 12-15 year olds

Further information regarding vaccinations for students aged 12-15 will be emailed to parents next week, including information sent by the college on behalf of the Schools Immunisation Service. This will include confirmation of the dates, and details regarding consent and how/when the vaccinations will take place.

Additionally, Public Health Cornwall have opened up an out-of-school immunisation service for 12-15 year olds to access independently. We would recommend that those wishing to take up the offer of a vaccination access this service at the Royal Cornwall Showground in the first instance for a number of reasons:

  • Your child may be able to access their vaccination sooner
  • You will be able to accompany your child to the venue

We do acknowledge though that this may not be possible for all students and for anyone who would prefer to receive their vaccination in school, this opportunity will be available as stated above. We will support parents in taking students out of school in order to attend vaccinations during school time. Public Health have informed us that you will have received a letter with further details of the out-of-school testing information including how to book. Some information about vaccinations can be accessed via the links below.

NEW: Odd Socks Day

Anti-Bullying Week 2021 is happening from Monday 15th – Friday 19th November and has the theme ‘One Kind Word’. It is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, which is based at the National Children’s Bureau. In conjunction with The Anti-Bullying Alliance, Bodmin College students and staff will celebrate Odd Socks Day as part of Anti-Bullying Week. Odd Socks Day is an opportunity to have fun, celebrate uniqueness and differences as well as spread awareness of the core values Anti-Bullying Week promotes. All students are invited to wear odd socks (alongside the rest of their usual school uniform) on Monday 15th November only.

We have launched our Christmas card design competition and we want students to get creative and enter! We know the festive season is a really exciting time and even though plans may look a little different again this year, we can still celebrate all the best things about it!

The winning design will be used as our official digital Bodmin College Christmas card for 2021 and will be sent to students, parents, governors and local schools. Entries need to be sent to Miss H Barrow - bh@bodmincollege.co.uk on or before Wednesday 8th December 2021. NEW:KS3 Extra-Curricular Afterschool Comic Club

Bodmin College Art Department will be running a Year 7 & 8 Comic Club after school starting on Tuesday 9th November which will run on every Tuesday in C4 at 15:30 to 16:30 until the 7th December. There are 20 places available.

If you love to read or draw comics or are passionate about Anime and Manga, then this will be an excellent opportunity to develop your interest. The group will explore storyboarding, learning about panels, and ultimately producing their own comic strip.

The after-school session will be run by Miss Sobczak who has a degree in Cartoon and Comics Arts. Letters and consent forms can be collected from the Art Office on Monday.
