NEW: Lateral flow testing kits
LFD testing kits have now arrived in school and are being distributed this week and early next week. In the meantime, please continue to use the free online ordering www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests or collect from a pharmacy. If your child is absent when testing kits are distributed, they will be able to collect kits from Mr Morris in his office next to the Sports Hall.
NEW: Vaccinations for 12-15 year olds
We have now received further information that Covid-19 vaccinations for 12-15 year olds will be taking place at Bodmin College in late November/early December. Further information will follow for parents regarding consent and how/when the vaccinations will take place. We will provide an update to our parents when more information is available.
NEW: PCR testing
Public Health have confirmed that you can now book a PCR test if you have other symptoms which could be COVID-19 but are not the main three symptoms (i.e. new continuous cough, high temperature, loss or change to sense of smell or taste). Other symptoms include sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, headache and sickness. Whilst students should remain at home if they are ill in general, they are not required to self-isolate unless they have one of the main three symptoms or a test result which comes back positive. We continue to encourage twice weekly lateral flow tests and would ask parents to exercise particular caution if their child is presenting any cold or cough symptoms.
NEW: Dropping off and collecting students
Please can we ask parents and carers to be mindful of local residents when dropping or collecting students near college. We are aware of a number of cars parking in residential streets, which is causing congestion and would also make it difficult for emergency vehicles to be able to gain access. For the safety of all road users and pedestrians, please can we ask parents to use the Dragon Centre car park, which students can access safely along Green Lane, or arrange alternative collection and drop off points away from residential areas.
NEW: PE rain jackets
There has been some slight confusion in the wearing of plain black rain tops being used in PE. As the new rain jackets are without a logo, students may have been told that this wasn't part of college PE uniform, which is not the case. However, there are occasions where staff may have not allowed these tops due to the appropriateness of the jacket for the activity. If students have been participating in rugby, the wearing of the jackets could pose a safety risk to the individual or others - especially if the focus is on tackling. Hopefully that clarifies a few concerns; many thanks for your support in this matter.
Mr Russell - Head of PE.
NEW: Student Aspirations Questionnaire
On Monday 18th October all students in Year 7 - 11 will receive an aspirations/careers questionnaire via Satchel. This questionnaire will tell the school what their interests are and their possible career goals. We will then be able to offer trips, workshops and advice based on this information. Students will be given an opportunity to answer the questionnaire during a tutor time but for those who cannot access it in school we would appreciate your support in asking your son/daughter to complete this at home next week. I have included the links below just in case they have difficulty accessing the questionnaire via Satchel.
Thank you for your support.

REMINDER: Free Period Products
Bodmin College is still part of the fantastic Free Period Products scheme funded by the government and provided through PHS. We are in a fortunate position to be able to offer all of our students free products, not just for emergencies, but for their entire menstrual cycles.
Products can be collected from Reception, First Aid, or any member of staff displaying the Period Products poster on their classroom or office door.
