Staffing Shortages Update – Return To Full Opening

RE: Staffing Shortages Update – Return To Full Opening

Dear Parents/Carers,

Further to my letter on 19th January, I am pleased to inform you that we are able to RETURN to FULL RE-OPENING for ALL year groups (including Year 7) on Tuesday 25th January 2022 as planned. The extreme shortages experienced last week have now passed and we are able to open the school again for all year groups.

Whilst staffing levels are still exceptionally tight, our extensive contingency measures, as previously outlined, mean that there are NO current requirements for any year group to be working from home. We continue to liaise carefully with Public Health Cornwall and Cornwall Council to monitor the situation and regularly assess risk to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.

Whilst we are hopeful that the numbers of staff and students absent for covid-related reasons will continue to fall and that we will be able to remain open to all year groups, the current guidance for isolation and the end of Plan B restrictions make it extremely difficult to predict staff shortages with any notice. Sometimes, we will not know the situation until the day it occurs.

Please be assured, however, that we continue to monitor the situation extremely closely and will endeavour to provide you with as much notice as possible should full or partial closures be required.

Thank you so much for your support and understanding with this very difficult situation. As always, should you have any questions, please check our website for Parent FAQs or get in touch through the contact us section of the website or by telephoning our reception desk.

Kindest regards

E Seward-Adams
