Media Studies
The Media department is, like the media, engaging, evolving and exciting. Media Studies teaches students to question what they see, hear and read every day; it teaches them to consider who has produced it and why, who is targeted and how? Alongside the academic side, students also learn the practical skills to create their own media products on industry standard software. Taught in two Mac computer suites, students will explore all areas of the media, from film & TV to magazines, radio, websites & social media. The subject enables students to develop an understanding of the role of the media in today’s society, developing an informed understanding of media concepts and theories along with key issues and debates. Media students are encouraged to become independent thinkers, open-minded, analytical and to express their creativity.
